Sliema
What was in former times a small quiet fishing vilage, nowadays has turned into a modern town of 13.585 habitants. San Julian´s
In former times San Julian‘s was also a small fishing village paced on the Spinola Bay, the Bay that nowadays is known for its abundant bars and restaurants, and also for its romantic tiny fisher boats. Little by little richer Maltese came to live here and the place became much sought-after. The small fisher village experienced a real economic boom through its industry and tourism. Nowadays San Julian´s is most famous for its suburb Paceville, a place with more than 350 clubs. Therefore many tourists which come to Sliema and San Julian´s are those that come for partying. That is why Paceville among tourists is also known as “Sin city”. San Julian´s counts with the most luxurious hotels, like Hilton Hotel, Intercontinental or Westin, as well as the Portomaso Tower. Balluta Bay is also placed within San Julian´s and it offers a wide rang of sport activities, like diving, swimming, etc.
Valetta
Valetta is situated just at the other side of Silema’s bay. It is the capital of Malta and a true jewel; Valetta was declared World Heritage by the UNESCO due to its well preserved 16th century buildings. The old town is fortified, what implies that most of the streets are actually narrow ways through. Surely the most important place of interest is the St. John’s Co Cathedral, said to be one of the most impressive Cathedrals of Europe, due to its rich ornaments and its huge ceiling fresco made by Mattia Preti. The Cathedral’s floor is described as the most beautiful floor in the world. It consists entirely of knight’s graves, covered by marble of different colours. The Cathedral has its own museum, which counts with two precious paintings made by Caravaggio. Another quite impressive building is the Maltese parliament, the Palace of the Grand Masters, where the President of Malta, Mr Abela, has his office. What shouldn’t be missed while visiting Valetta is its beautiful theatre, that has preserved its original state since it was build in the 17th century. Nowadays especially classical concerts take place there.

Hagar Qim
Those are beautiful prehistoric subterranean Temples, excavated between 1914 and 1919. In order to visit those temples it is necessary to by the entrance in advance.
The Three Cities
Vittoriosa, Senglea and Cospicua are considered to be the cradle of Maltese history. Through their wonderful ports, palaces, churches and forts, which offer an insight of how Malta was from the Phoenician times on. Especially dramatic is the yearly Easter event, when the Easter processions take place.
Mdina
Mdina is the oldest village of Malta, build up in 700 BC by the Phoenicians. The village is fortified from Phonecian times on and has an impressive cathedral. Only 306 people live there, therefore visitors call it the silent city.
Dingli Cliffs
The Dingli Cliffs are one of the most imposing landmarks of Malta. They reach almost 250 metres of hight and shouldn´t been missed, especially during the sunset.
Blue Grotto
Blue Grotto are caverns placed near the isle Filfla which offer a unique picture of a great variation of blue, produced by the light rays of the sun.
Catacombs of Rabat
Those are several subterran catacombs from ancient times, which served as burial places. Most of them are passable on foot.
Malta´s Cuisine
Last but not least, something one has to take into account while visiting Malta, is its unique local dishes. Something that is typical of Malta´s cousine is certainly Ġbejna, a cheese made of goat´s milk. Caper and rabbit are very popular but especially Malta´s national fish dish, dolphinfish. Pastizzis, Qassatas are pie, usually containing ricotta, spinach, peas, together with meat or tuna. Qagħaq tal-għasel are sweet pastry rings filled with a treacle mixture, Bigilla is a dish made of mashed beans, aljotta is a fish soup. A typical Maltese sweet is Nougat, made of sugar or honey, and all kind of roasted nuts and sometimes with chopped candied fruit.
